Should You Be Excited With The Realme Pad Mini?

The tablet industry does not seem to be dead after all. Samsung recently released a couple of premium tablets and now the brand Realme is also launching a new one. If you are not familiar with Realme, it is a Chinese mobile device manufacturer brand like Oppo and Vivo. Speaking of which, the former vice president of Oppo is the founder of Realme. It is more popular in China, India, South East Asia, and some countries in Europe.

After it has released its realme Pad, it is now accepting pre-orders in the Philippines through the online retailer Lazada. There is still no news on when it will be launched in other markets. Pre-orders are still ongoing, where the specifications are already shown on the mentioned online marketplace website.

The realme Pad mini looks similar to the iPad mini 2021, due to its straight edges and ultra-slim design. It has an 8.7” large display partnered with a dual speaker system in landscape mode. The brand promises an “immersive” experience when gaming or watching movies. However, it is important to note that this is a budget tablet that is expected to have an IPS LCD display with 179 PPI. About the camera department, there is nothing much to expect. It has a rear camera with 8MP and a front camera of 5MP.

The package will include an 18W fast charger to provide juice to the 6400 mAh battery. The manufacturer’s test promises to have more than 15 hours of continuous video streaming, perfect for use with apps like Youtube or Netflix. If you prefer downloading videos, it has up to 64GB of internal memory, which is expandable to up to 1TB through a memory card. The realme Pad mini also promises to deliver “smooth visuals and fast system response” that will give a great gaming experience. It has a 12nm Octa-core processor manufactured by Unisoc.

Though this is considered to be a budget or midrange tablet, there are two modes that can be activated with the display. First is the Eye comfort mode, which lowers the emission of blue light that reduces eye fatigue. The second is the Dark Mode, where it can adapt to the dark environment to make the screen backlight gentler on the eyes. The normal display can also be activated during the day to improve display even when under the sun.

In an attempt to match the ecosystem provided by other mobile brands, the realme Pad mini can be connected to other devices. It can cast content to a realme TV easily or unlock the tablet using the realme band or watch.

Standard features are in the tablet such as WiFi and 4G connectivity, Android apps, USB-C connectivity, and the custom-built realme UI. The brand also claims a high-quality standard passing rigorous tests for the device. It is available in Blue (looks similar to iPhone’s Sierra Blue) and in Grey. The price is not yet announced yet it is expected to be unveiled on the 4th of April 2022.
