Samsung Galaxy A13: An Entry Level Phone

Samsung Galaxy A13: An Entry Level Phone With 5 Cameras?

The world of smartphones seems to only have its attention on flagship and mid-range models. Many tech YouTubers do not seem to be interested in entry-level phones. In comparison to the prime models, phones that have a much lower price tag feel boring to review or discuss. As an effect, many manufacturers add something interesting whenever they release phones in this category.

Smartphone brands that make entry-level devices are getting smarter. It’s impossible to fit all flagship features with the price, then the other functions or hardware can be compromised. One of the best phones in this class is the Samsung Galaxy A13.

This recently released mobile phone has unbelievable specs, but (spoiler alert) may disappoint loyal Samsung users. To begin with the design, the back is made of plastic but does not feel that cheap. It also has a high gloss that highlight’s the device’s color, reminiscent of the colors of the iPhone 5C.  This is where you’ll see the four cameras as well – 50 MP wide camera, 5 MP ultra wide camera, 2MP Macro, and 2 MP depth sensor. Moving to the front, it has a 6.6-inch “Infinity V” screen that is capable of playing 1080p and HDR content. You’ll also be surprised that the front screen is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Out of the box, the phone’s OS is set to Android 12 with Samsung’s One UI 4.1. Depending on the market, this phone will be available starting at 32GB of internal memory with 3GB RAM up to 128GB with 6GB RAM. The sad part is, that the chipset is made from Exynos 850 as many users and tech reviewers observed that it has a laggy performance.

As mentioned in the title, this entry-level phone has 5 cameras. One in the front and four at the back, where the 8 MP front camera also serves as the brightness sensor. It may have the right camera for a specific scenario or situation, but don’t expect much in the imaging department. A camera test reveals they work best in daylight but may experience a lot of noise in poorly lighted areas.

As entry-level devices still stick with the old micro USB charger, this phone is charged through a USB-C cable. It has a 5000 mAh battery that should be good for one day of normal usage. This device also has a 3.5 mm headphone jack to make listening easier than ever. NFC connection is also available on this phone, but this feature will be market-dependent.

In conclusion, this device is a great value for money but make sure to set your expectation. The Samsung Galaxy A13 is available in the 4G or 5G versions, and the price starts at US$169. It has features that are way more advanced than any other budget phone. This phone is suggested for those who are on a tight budget and looking for a new smartphone to buy. It is available in black, white, blue, and the new shade of peach.
