Hearing The Rumours About Google Pixel 6a
Hardcore Android fans would always choose Pixel phones. Aside from the fact that it has the latest Android version in the box, it would guarantee to have the updated one in the coming years.
In the past, Google phones are co-created by other smartphone manufacturers (remember Nexus phones?) like LG, Huawei, and Motorola. Now that Google creates in-house mobile phones and chips since the Pixel, should you get the Pixel 6a?
Obviously, if you already have the Pixel 6 or the Pixel 6 Pro, the Pixel 6a will be a downgrade. Google name their midrange phone with the letter “a” at the end of the model number.
What most users expect of these midrange phones is how fast and updated they are, just like the vanilla version. The brand tries to make the phones feel premium with their “-a” line, with a lower price tag.
Since there are no official release dates yet or verified leaks, many tech experts say what they are expecting from Google’s “budget” phone. First of all, it has a dual-camera like the standard Pixel 6 but could have a lower megapixel count.
Only having two cameras in what they call the “visor”, many users have praised the quality photos taken from Google phones over the years. It can compete with the quality of images taken using a flagship iPhone or Samsung phone. Aside from this, it is also expected not to have laser autofocus but will be assisted by the technology from the software.
Leaks have also mentioned that the phone will have a 6.2 inch OLED screen, which would be great considering the price point. It is also expected to have a punch-hole display that makes it more premium and just like the other phones in the Pixel 6 lineup.
As usual, the Android interface in Pixel phones always has a minimalist design which should also be available in this phone. This should also use Google’s new chip, Tensor.
Other standard specifications for Pixel phones are expected, such as no memory card slot, running the latest Android version out of the box, absence of the 3.5mm earphone jack, and using a USB-C connection.
Another thing that Google phones are known for is the way they name the color of the device. This phone may not also have any IP rating as well.
This phone is not yet released as of writing, but it is expected to be launched at the Google I/O conference in May. There are also rumors from the YouTuber Jon Prosser that it could be released in July 2022 in markets outside the US.
It is expected to be priced at around USD 400 since the “a” versions are always almost a third cheaper than the standard ones. However, some experts mentioned that the price difference isn’t that high, since there is not much difference with the Pixel 6.
As mentioned, this phone is not yet released but there are already rumors about the Pixel 7 lineup. If you prefer the premium flagship phones, it is suggested to skip this model and wait till Google releases a new line of mobile phones.
